Attended Portree High School, Isle of Skye, Scotland.

Having lived on an island opposite the Isle of Skye, where the Cuillin Hills rise up from the sea, it seemed natural to get a job as a climbing instructor at the Raasay Outdoor Centre after leaving High School.
I worked as a staff producer for various opera companies, including Opera North. My most memorable production was Albert Herring by Britten, and directed by the late, great Claire Venables.
I play in a classical guitar quartet.
Started making furniture in 1990’s and soon after, exclusively with driftwood. The inspiration behind this was from a dear artist friend of mine called Bob Law. Bob was a minimalist artist and painted some huge black canvasses in the 1950’s www.artistboblaw.org.uk.
